The focus of this specialist, nature library is on the behaviour and habitats of wild animals. While many of our images are portraits of wildlife, large and small, our emphasis is more about what creatures get up to in their daily lives - on land or underwater, night or day. It is for scientists to decide why animals act the way they do; photographs are often a means to explain how. Main activities you will find on site include: feeding, courtship, parenting and communication; but, of course, animals are animals, they constantly surprise and delight us with inumerable other activities.

Images in this library will often depict a creature immersed in its natural environment, as the habitat (the forest, the field or the river) in which the subject sits can be just as important. Plants are part of the food chain and as such feature prominently: You will find individual leaves of trees; the reproductive organs of flowers; fruit and seeds hanging from branches - either on their own or in the company of a hungry insect, a curious lizard or a perching bird.

To complement the species found in this library, a large selection of landscape photographs can also be found: from mountains, rainforests, farmland and arid desert scenes, to coastal environments and coral reefs beneath the waves. If we have the species, we have their environment. This includes many rare and endangered creatures living in some of the remotest locations on the planet.
