SEARCH TIPS
- Verbs are mainly described as actions; like - running
grooming perching. Descriptive acts like -copulation
or predation - are also used. The keyword 'action' describes
fast movement within the image, often having a blurred
effect.
- Background objects other than the main subject are
often described like - branch or grass. Hyphens in animal
names are included.
|
- Use more than one word to narrow your search, no punctuation
required; like - monkey jumping - animal tropical portrait
- parent feeding chick. The use of prepositions is not
recommended. Include catagory names if desired.
- Nouns are not usually pluralised. Animals are seldom
in plural. When searching for a group of animals use
the collective - troop flock pair herd.
|
 |
|
- American and English spellings are used. Common spelling
variations, misnomers and typos are also used to help
in searches.
- The keyword 'background' is used for images that could
serve as a texture behind text.
- IUCN Endangered, Critically or Protected are all described
as 'endangered'.
- Colours of subjects are denoted. A multi-coloured
subject may be described as 'colourful'. If the image
is a landscape or texture, then the main colour is sometimes
keyworded.
|
|
- Latin names are searchable, either genus or species
or both (subspecies are not generally denoted). Both
common and scientific terminology is used where possible.
- Body features are keyworded. Descriptive, emotional
words are often used for landscapes and animals.
- Search for subjects by continent or ocean. An endemic
or rare creature may have its location narrowed further.
- Try your own descriptive words, you will more than
likely have success.
